Testing for the coronavirus has become a multi-billion dollar business globally. In Germany, a whole industry of private test centers has sprung up in recent weeks. They’re free for the public, but the federal government pays for each test.
Now German media are reporting on allegations of widespread fraud in testing centers. Some have been accused of billing the government for tests that never occurred. Millions of euros have been paid to testing centers, with little control or oversight over their operations.
