The Denver Police Department is warning the public about scammers targeting potential online jobseekers.

According to DPD, the patterns, stories and methods used by the scammers are consistent, but the way the suspects receive and steal victims’ money changes. Recently, the trend has been the scammer texting the victim and claiming they are a recruiter with a job opportunity. The scammer often asks the victim to fill out an “application” online and/or requests money that they claim will be repaid, according to the media release.
